About

KITA is an independent research and analysis platform founded by undergraduate and graduate students, as well as early-career researchers working in international relations, political science, and geopolitics.

KITA examines developments across Europe, the Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and other regions connected to Türkiye’s foreign relations. Our research covers relations between states as well as security and defence policy, the European Union, energy, economics, technology, and regional power competition.

KITA does not aim to reproduce the daily news cycle. Our goal is to analyse why developments occur, the historical and political conditions in which they emerge, the interests guiding the actors involved, and the possible consequences, using source-based research.

Our Research and Publishing Approach

KITA publishes analytical articles, policy briefs, research dossiers, interviews, and visual content. We believe academic research should not remain confined to universities. For this reason, we seek to make complex international issues accessible to a wider audience without compromising research methods or the rigorous use of sources.

Our work draws on academic literature, official documents, reports from international organisations, open-source data, and reliable sources covering developments on the ground. Comparing different perspectives and theoretical approaches is also an integral part of KITA’s research methodology.

KITA also serves as a working space for young researchers. We aim to provide students and early-career researchers specialising in international relations and political science with an environment in which they can develop their own research topics, publish their work, and collaborate with researchers from different fields of expertise.

Independence and Editorial Principles

KITA is not affiliated with any political party, government, public institution, or private organisation. Research topics and editorial policy are determined according to the platform’s own editorial principles.

Every publication produced by KITA reflects the research and assessment of its author. The views expressed in individual publications do not represent a common political position shared by all members of KITA.

Transparent sourcing, a clear distinction between facts and analysis, and the consideration of different perspectives are among our core editorial principles.

Our Aim

Over time, KITA aims to build an independent network in which young researchers regularly produce work on international relations and geopolitics, with particular attention to Türkiye and its regional environment.

Encouraging exchanges between academia, the media, think tanks, and policy professionals, increasing the visibility of young researchers’ work, and producing research that examines developments surrounding Türkiye from different perspectives form the basis of this objective.
